Be Afraid of Her Ruse

Be Afraid of Her Ruse

“Be Afraid of Her Ruse” is an original song that explores quiet manipulation, charm, and the kind of power that doesn’t need to shout to take control.

I wrote this as a character-driven piece about someone who wins not through force, but through subtle influence, where every choice feels like your own until it’s too late.

The lyrics follow the slow unraveling of confidence, trust, and control, wrapped in elegance and illusion.

It’s a darker, cinematic story about perception, persuasion, and the danger of putting your trust and love in someone who plays a game.

If this song pulls you in or reminds you of a story you’ve seen before, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for listening and supporting the music.

Be Afraid of Her Ruse

She enters soft, the room obeys
Silk and smoke and sideways gaze
Laughs like nothing’s on the line
As if time itself is on her side

She never rushes, never pleads
She plants her wants like harmless seeds
You swear the choice was always yours
While she’s quietly locking doors

Every smile a little too clean
Every promise well rehearsed
If you feel seen, you’ve been chosen
If you feel safe, you’re the worst

Be afraid of her ruse
She won’t chase, she’ll let you choose
She’ll thank you as she ruins you
Be afraid of her ruse

She tells the truth in pieces small
Just enough to watch you fall
By the time you see the noose
You’re applauding her ruse

They speak her name with reverent grace
Defend her like a holy place
Empty hands, but glowing praise
She left them smiling, anyway

If she listens, don’t relax
That’s the moment she attacks
If she laughs, don’t play along
You’re already in her song

Be afraid of her ruse
She won’t break you, she’ll reduce
Every loss sounds like good news
Be afraid of her ruse

She never shoves, she never shouts
She lets you talk yourself right out
By the time you smell the fuse
You’re defending her ruse

Some monsters roar
She prefers wit
If you think you want her
That’s the trick

Be afraid of her ruse
Every win is something you lose
She wears men like velvet shoes
Be afraid of her ruse

She’ll toast your fall with perfect poise
Call the damage “grown-up choice”
Smile sweet, but you will lose
Then disappear in her ruse

Soft lights
Slow clap
She smiles
Curtain.
